Unfolding on my monitor, I’m watching the rescue of passengers from US Airways Flight 1549 which crashed into the ice cold Hudson River. FAA and New York Police stated that they did not believe that it was a terrorist act, but instead a flock of birds that got caught in the engine. All reports currently state that there appear to be no deaths and or very seriously injuries.

A lot is being said about the crash, but I am finding myself impressed by the pilot’s quick thinking and expertise. And that in less than four minutes from the crash, a New York ferry was on site and people were climbing out of the plane, onto the wing and then into the ferry. Then many boats, ferries, NYFD and Coast Guard were also helping out. That’s the nature of man; people want to help each other. To the average New Yorker, people matter…. and this is how we show it.
